FAQ
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT IS TALLOW?
Tallow is the rendered fat of cattle. Tallow is able to match our own skin's natural sebaceous and lipid production. This makes it biologically available on contact — because the skin readily absorbs and utilizes what it's familiar with, in it's own genetic makeup. The Latin word "sebum" means tallow. Using tallow as a gold standard for skincare is a practice that is thousands of years old, passed down generation after generation. The human cell membrane is made up primarily of fatty acids and saturated fats constitute at least 50 percent of the cell membrane. It just so happens, that tallow is 50 to 55 percent saturated, just like our cell membranes. This makes it a super healer for our skin & compatible with our cell biology. (Weston A. Prince)
WHY TALLOW?
Tallow is loaded with Vitamins A, D, E, K, B12 and other important micro-nutrients all of which are fat-soluble. Grass-fed, grass-finished tallow contains conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), stearic acid, alpha-linoleic (omega-3), linoleic acid (omega-6), palmitic acid, palmitoleic acid (omega 7) and oleic acid (omega-9). CLA has significant antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, and has been shown to stimulate keratinocyte proliferation and epidermal regeneration which helps the outermost layer of the skin regenerate. Tallow is naturally anti-aging, antimicrobial, and anti-fungal. It eradicates free radicals and treats previously damaged tissues.
WHAT DO I USE TALLOW FOR?
In addition to being a safe & highly effective, non-toxic everyday moisturizer— use it on dry skin, chapped lips, chapped nipples from breastfeeding, eczema, psoriasis, diaper rash, chafing, pain management, cracked heels, callouses, sunburns and other burns, cracked & sun-damaged skin, age spots, rashes, itching, athletes foot, jock itch, rosacea, wrinkles, scrapes, scratches, stretch marks, c-section scars, keratosis pilaris, cradle cap, pet hot spots, new tattoos, acne, soothing aftershave, as primer before foundation, toenail fungus, and so much more.
